Privacy Policy
Last updated 16 July 2026
Audely is a local-first podcast player. It does not require an Audely account, sell personal information, build advertising profiles, or include behavioural analytics.
Information stored on your device
Audely stores the library information needed to organise and play your audio, including show and episode metadata, artwork, playback state, queue, favourites, notes, transcripts, settings, and device-local source links. This information remains on the device unless you enable an optional iCloud feature.
Your source audio
Audio stays in folders you select. Audely reads those files for import, playback, artwork, chapters, and on-device transcription. Audely does not upload source audio through sync or cloud backups, and library-safe removal actions do not delete it.
On-device transcription and model downloads
Transcription runs locally with WhisperKit. When you choose to download a transcription model, Apple delivers Audely’s model asset pack through the App Store infrastructure. Audely does not operate the model server, receive the download request, or send your audio or transcript text with it. Apple handles the request under your Apple account and its privacy terms.
Apple manages downloaded and partial model data for Audely. You can remove the model in Audely’s transcript settings. Saved transcript text follows the local, sync, backup, and deletion rules described here.
Optional iCloud sync and cloud backups
If you enable sync, Audely stores supported metadata, playback state, artwork, transcripts, and syncable preferences in the private CloudKit database of the signed-in iCloud account. Source-folder permissions, security-scoped bookmarks, absolute paths, and audio files do not sync.
If you enable cloud backups, Audely stores versioned recovery points for library information in that same private iCloud account. Audely currently retains up to five recovery points. Apple provides iCloud and CloudKit under your Apple account and its privacy terms. Synced data and backups count against your iCloud storage.
Diagnostics and support
Audely writes operational diagnostics to Apple’s unified logging system on your device. Library titles, filenames, paths, record identifiers, account details, and underlying errors are marked private or redacted. Audely does not automatically send these logs to us.
If you contact support, report a bug, or request a feature, your email provider sends the address, message, and attachments you choose to include. We use that information only to respond, investigate the request, and maintain the service, and retain it only as long as reasonably needed for those purposes or legal obligations.
Website
The Audely website has no advertising or behavioural analytics dependency and does not set tracking cookies. The hosting and network providers that deliver the site may process ordinary request information, such as IP address, browser details, requested page, and time, for security and reliable delivery under their own policies.
Deletion and retention
- Remove a transcript or transcription model from Audely’s transcript settings.
- Remove a source grant without deleting its source audio.

- Turn off sync or use Delete synced data to remove Audely’s synced CloudKit zone without deleting local libraries or audio.
