Getting started

Create your first Audely library and understand how audio, metadata, and device access fit together.

Audely turns folders of audio into a listening library. Your source files stay where you put them. Audely adds its own artwork, organisation, progress, favourites, transcripts, and preferences around those files.

Before you begin

Prepare a folder containing podcast downloads, audiobooks, archived shows, or other long-form audio you have permission to use. A folder in iCloud Drive works too, provided the audio is available on the device.

Create your first library

  1. Open Library settings. On Mac, open Audely › Settings › Library. On iPhone or iPad, open Settings in Audely and choose Library.
  2. Add a folder. Choose the folder containing your audio and grant Audely access when the system asks.
  3. Review the import. Audely scans supported files and organises them into shows and episodes using their embedded information and folder context.
  4. Open your library. Browse by show or episode, choose something to play, and adjust its details if the source metadata needs help.

What Audely stores

  • Source audio remains in your chosen folder. Audely reads it for playback and metadata but does not upload, move, or rewrite it.
  • Library information such as titles, artwork, show organisation, progress, favourites, transcripts, and preferences is stored separately in Audely’s local library.
  • Synced information can move through your private iCloud database when you opt in. Source audio and folder access never sync.
